A clinical study on 157 cases of cleft lip and cleft palate

Abstract
The statistical review of our experience with 157 cases of cleft patients admitted to the department of sugery, Wonju Union Christian Hospital during the period from Mar. 1960 to Mar. 1972 was done.

The results are follows:

1) In 157 cases 101(64.4%) cases are cleft lip, 41(26. 1%) cases are cleft palate and cleft lip and 15(9. 5%) cases are cleft palate.

2) The ratio of male to female is dominantly high in male; 1. 6 : 1 in all cleft patients,

3) The incidence of cleft infant in W.U.C.H. delivery during the period1960 to 1971 was 1 : 1065..

4) In degree of deformity, the complete type are predominant and the rat-io of left and right side

is dominantly high in left side; 2. 9 : 1 in sin-gle cleft type cases.

5) In age distribution at admission, the peack age distribution is 1/12? 5/12 year age group; .65

(41.4%). cases. therefore this finding revealed the admission at early life in severe deformity.

6) In 157 cases, 11 cases are associated congenital anomalies and then the incidence of congenital

anomalies is 7. 0%.

7) The operative mortality is 2 cases (1.09%).
